19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The athlete, a former world number one, has had a difficult season, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.
The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time mentor Cervara.
Currently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's initial championship since the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since that period of 2023.
Success also indicates he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct tournaments.
"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to get a trophy is particularly special," commented world number 14 the champion.
"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six title deciders, comprising in Halle previously this season.
Medvedev's defensive strategy and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had caused commentators to doubt if his ability to play at the elite level was over.
But the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete positively, reinforced by an improved service.
Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The pair exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial tour title, seized the initiative to force a third set.
The opponent saved 4 initial opportunities in a competitive final set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.
Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
